Hello Readers...
Today I was thinking instead of doing a book review lets talk to a person who actually writes book. So I contacted Tony whose book I reviewed earlier and he was more than happy to do this. By the way you can check the review of his book here: Review of Reconstructing The Past To Create A Remarkable Future
So here is how the conversation went:
Me: Welcome Tony, tell us something about yourself?
Tony: I am a health and self-empowerment author and speaker based in Australia. I've been writing for eight years and in that time have written two books endorsed by international authors. My background in this field followed my father's death from complications resulting from type II diabetes, I experienced a health crisis over a decade ago which led to a gradual awakening over that period.
Me: Tony, tell us about your current release "Reconstructing The Past To Create A Remarkable Future".
Tony: In my work with clients and audiences, I observed people who experienced a crisis where people stuck in the past recalling painful memories. Once they processed the pain and transform it, they healed their life and reclaimed their power. The book is an invitation to bring peace to your past to create a remarkable future. You cannot create a remarkable future from a place of pain. The book is a guide help readers create a renewed life purpose born out of purpose and not pain.
Me: What inspired you to write this book? Also unlike other books this book speaks about making peace with the past to create a compelling future. So where did you get the concept from?
Tony: I am inspired through the work with my clients, audiences and self-examination. I noted a theme through a work that we cannot create a purposeful future while carrying our wounds. We must face them, heal then and transform them. Every experience is an invitation to awaken to the humanity and so the book is call to action..
Me: What are the challenges you faced while writing the book and how do you deal with the writer's block?
Tony: The only challenge I faced was finding a suitable publisher who respected my work and allowed the voice of the book to be expressed. Thankfully the publisher, an established author allowed the book to communicate its intention with little involvement.
Tony: I rarely faced writer's block and on the occasions when I do, I get up from my chair and move my body. When my thoughts are blocked and so is my body. Writer's block is an invitation to connect mind and body, so if the mind is restless. so is the body.
Me: When did you first considered yourself a writer?
Tony: Many authors will tell you when they hold their first book in their hands, a recognition of their crafts comes alive. This was the case for me given my first book "The Power To Navigate Life" was the result of the past ten years of work.
Me: Do you write full time? If so what is your work day like.
Tony: At the moment. yes I write full time. I prefer to work Monday to Friday and take the weekends off since it softens the mind and allows time to reflect on the ideas. I excersie first thing in the morning, eat breakfast and write until the late afternoon. I take 20 minutes of quick nap around this time and come back to edit my work. I find the mornings are conductive to write new material while the afternoons are better suited for editing. A brief nap transitions me to a relaxed state where my best ideas emerge. They are short enough not to doze-off, yet be alert for editing. This has been a ritual for the past 5 years.
Me: As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
Tony: Interestingly, since my father was a tailor, I wanted to be a menswear designer. I gained a degree in Fashion from a university specializing in menswear and invited to work in Italy and New York due to the strength of my work. However, that all changed later on. I now feel called to be an author. Life has a funny way of calling to your purpose.
Me: What after this book? Are you planning to write a new book? Anything else you would like to share with us.
Tony: I recently finished writing my third book titled "Awaken Your Authentic Self". It is in manuscript stage and I am allowing it to sit for a while before approaching it again. Writing can be cathartic and yet exhausting experience. It is wise to distance ourselves from our work every now and again. I write weekly blog articles via my website: www.tonyfahkry.com which I enjoy. This gives me an opportunity to play with new material and sense what readers are drawn to.
Me: Thank you Tony for taking out time, interacting and sharing your ideas and personal insights with us. It was great to have you and looking forward for your next release " Awaken Your Authentic Self".
