Anant Dot Com - Govind Sharma Review

(Book Cover Source: Goodreads)
Hello Readers...

I'll like to thank the author of this book "Dr. Govind Sharma" for providing a copy of his book through goodreads.

Here is a brief synopsis of the book before beginning with the review:

" For Mohan, it all begins in his second year at Saint John's College, a low-profile college in Dharampur, a small town in foothills of Shivalik. Mohan is from a religious family of kathavachaks (Those who receite Scriptures). His grandfather wants to expose him to western education system as he believes that those with the traditional background should be familiar with the modern thought process, and the westernized Indians should take interest in the ancient Indian teachings so as to have a balanced outlook on life. Mohan shares accommodation with Anant who is from a very rich family. Anant is not studious but he has a passion for sports. There is another interesting character, Baldev, who is from a dysfunctional family. Is he worthy of Mala's affection? As the story unfolds, there appear other interesting characters like Panther, Sudha, Nalini, Sayeeda, Posci, Verma SIr and Mamaji. The story also contains scenes involving Bollywood, Match Fixing and Betting. All the characters and incidents have been invented by imagination. In this novel, author Dr. Govind Sharma conveys important messages contained in the Indian Scripture Ram Charit Manas to offer a look at duty, sacrifice, and the joint family system. The narrator Mohan tells the story of his friends; and in between the scenes, the narrator gives the key message of Ram Charit Manas by way of his recitals."

First thing first, this book is extremely short. So those who are like me who loves to read short books, you will definitely get attracted to this point. Also I really liked the message which the book was trying to convey through the story of Anant. This book is quite different from most of the books which you might find in the present days. Also the way the author has used to tell the preaching of the "Ram Charit Manas" is pretty amazing.

However, this book didn't interest me much as I felt many things were lacking. There were too many characters and I was kind of lost and found it difficult to keep up with the story of each and every character. Also the way the story progresses and in the narration particularly, I felt it lacked smoothness in the transitioning. It was like chain of events were just listed out and the link between each events were missing. Also the attention to the details or rather I should say the clarity of the details were missing, though the narration was done in simple words so that most of the people would easily understand the theme and the concept of this book.

So to conclude, Yes some of you might like this book but this book is definitely not for me. This book could have been a way better and much more interesting. To rate it, I would give this book 1 out of 5 stars. Still you want to try this one out, here are the links to the Amazon from where you can get this book:

Absinthe - A.L.Miles Review

(Book Cover Source: Goodreads)
Hello Readers...

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the author of the book, "A.L.Miles" for providing a copy of this book for review.

Lets take a look at the brief synopsis of the book before beginning with the review:

" He pictured my mangled body beneath his. I am going to die, and he is going to be the one to kill me...

Absinthe: I wished for a new life, for a mother that loved me, for my abilities to be stripped from me forever. Instead, I get death. I get pain and heartache. Will I even know happiness before my untimely departure from this life? Do I run or stay and fight my painful ending? My days are numbered. My Ideas are running thin. I am left asking, how am I going to survive this?

Ash: It started with her art, and then it was her body and a simple bet. What is it now? I started as one person at the beginning, but now I wonder, who am I?

Absinthe is a mind reader. She set up a meeting with a potential client and was waiting for him when a man she did not want to see showed up. Her potential client was fake, and the man that showed up was thinking one thing. If this urge was not to heavy, I would keep you around. Unfortunately, for you, I need to kill again, and you, my dear Absinthe, are going to be my victim.

With her life on the line, she must figure out what to do next."

What drew my attention to the book was the cover and the theme of the book. The cover looks stunning and the theme of a girl who has mind reading ability is quite unique. However, I felt that the author couldn't make the most out of the concept. The story could have been a more amazing and interesting if the concept of mind reading was utilised in a more better way.

The story is narrated in the perspective of two people, Ash and Absinthe, who fell in love with each other. The author choose the narration in terms of the two characters in alternate fashion, for eg. if one chapter in narrated with  respect to Absinthe then the subsequent chapter will be narrated with Ash's perspective. However, I felt that the transition could have been a little smother in certain places. The author has written and narrated in simple words and at an appropriate pace. I am sure many of you will have no complain in that regards.

However, I just couldn't connect with the book, the characters and the story. The entire story line for most of the time was moving on the same level. Though, in the end author did a good job in making the novel slightly better as compared to previous sections. Also, many things in the novel were unexplained till the end. The attention to the details was clearly lacking.

This book also contain some content which might not be appropriate for children's below the age group of 14-15. Parents do take a note of this.

So to sum up, this book didn't do well in my opinion. Yes the concept was good but the book was struggling at many fronts. If I have to rate it,  I would give this book 1.5 stars out of 5. Still, if you wanna buy the book, here are the link to the Amazon for the same.

The Secret Billionaire - Teymour Shahabi Review

(Book Cover Source: Goodreads)
Hello Readers...

Thanks for being patient with this review. I know many of you were eagerly waiting for the review of this book. But before beginning with the review, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the author of this book "Teymour Shahabi" for providing a copy of this book for the review.

Here is a brief synopsis of this book:

" 1960 - March 24. Billionaire Lyndon Surway takes off  in his private plane and never returns.

His will leaves the entirety of his wealth - one of the largest fortunes in history - to his "dear friend Lucian Baker". Only there is no trace of anyone by that name. And the fortune itself is nowhere to be found.

Andrew Day knows nothing of wealth and privilege, but he won a scholarship to study at the most exclusive school in the country, in the town where the mystery, decades later, remains unsolved. There he discovers friendship and danger with the aristocratic Cameron and the beautiful Olivia. But watchful eyes follow him everywhere...Until, one night, he comes across a secret that will change his life. As he begins to unravel what really happened to the Surway fortune, the question remains; who is Lucian Baker?"

After reading the synopsis, I was really excited about the story and the theme of the book and this book being 430 pages long, I was really pumped up to read such a great story plot unveiled. The cover looks good, the synopsis looks good, the theme looks good. Every thing was looking great with  this book.

I must say, the story is really great and the writer "Teymour Shahabi" has has done an immensely great job in writing this book. This book being 430 pages long, most of us will find difficult to read the entire book in one seating. The writer has ease our job by keeping the chapters small, so that most of us can stay connected with the story. Also the transitioning between the chapters is super smooth. You will start admiring the writers work in terms of the choice of words, the way the chapters are structured, the transitioning of the chapters, the story build up and lot more. The characters are also lively and felt genuine to me. Everyone will have an instant connection with the characters of this book.

The cover looks good, the synopsis looks good, the theme and the concept of the book looks good, the narration and the writing of the author looks good. But everything is not rosy as it feels. Though writer stayed focused with the main theme of the book, but I felt the story build up was just round the central character "Andrew". The use of other characters in the story build up was lacking in my frank opinion. For eg. The use of other characters such as of Cameroon and Olivia and even that of the Brandow felt lacking. I really felt sad that the author miss this opportunity of using such great characters. Also inclusion of more characters around the central story could have made this book and the further story less predictable.

Also the end of the book left lot of questions unanswered. What happened to those mask man? What happened with the Andrew after that? What happened with Cameroon and Olivia? Did the Brandow's got to know of the Andrew's wealth? Many such questions were still unanswered. I feel that the writer rushed a little while conceptualizing the end of this book. A little more attention on the writer's part could have made this novel a stellar book.

So to sum up, if you are a casual reader and want to read a book for good story plot, you will like this book. But if you are too picky just like me about the details and the intricacies of the book. you might feel this book lacking in certain aspects which I mentioned above. So if asked to rate, I will give this book 3 stars out of 5 because of good story and great narration. The book is set for release on 29 September, 2016.

So, this is what I feel after reading this book. Do let me know in the comment section what do you feel about the book. I would like to end this review with an excerpt of this book:

"
And then suddenly, he stopped. He narrowed his eyes. There was a round table in the middle of the landing in front of him. He couldn't tell if the table was big or small, as big as a pond or as small as a pie, because he couldn't understand the proportions of anything around him. But he saw something on the table's surface, something whose size he could grasp. It was a letter. It was folded over. He stepped closer to the table. He could feel his arm reaching for the letter, reaching for the golden initials LS that had been engraved in it long before he was born. And even before he unfolded it, even before he touched it, he knew the letter was for him. He picked it up and smiled, as he read the single word written inside.

Welcome
"

The Six Principles Of Enlightenment And Meaning Of Life - Russell Anthony Gibbs Review

(Book Cover Source: Goodreads)
Hello Readers...

First I would like to thank and express my sincere gratitude to the author of this book "Russell Anthony Gibbs" for providing a copy of this book for the review.

Today while travelling, I started reading this book keeping in mind this book is based upon spirituality and was of the view that it was just like any other spirituality books available out there. But when I completed it, this book completely changed my perception. I would like to start the review with one of my favorite quote from Buddha.

"No one can save us but ourselves.
No one can and no one may.
We ourselves must walk the path."

Those of you who actually want to change themselves and live a good life, here is a brief synopsis of the book for such people:

"All enlightened beings, most founders of religion and many renowned scientists knew and understood the six principles of enlightenment. These universal truths have been written about, taught and discussed for thousands of years and yet remains shrouded in mystery and misinterpretations. This book seeks to remove that shroud.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment And Meaning of Life is an intellectual and spiritual work  that explains the six significant universal truths woven throughout science, religion and philosophy. These principles draw upon thousands of years of wisdom and are presented in concise, accessible format. Each principle is defined and has an explanation of its application to life; they are further supported by quotes of wisdom from enlightened beings, philosophers, artists and scientists like Buddha, Albert Einstein, Rumi, Stephen Hawking and Jesus. Understanding the six principles then unlocks the meaning of life which is explained in the final chapter."

The best thing about the book which I really liked is that this book is just 51 pages long. Russell Anthony Gibbs has done an immensely great job in keeping this book so short yet describing all the key things which each and everyone of us must know for being enlighten. Though this book is short, one must truly read and grasp the true essence of this book.

I really liked the concept where Russell Anthony Gibbs has divided each chapter in three sections wherein the first section explains what each principle is, second section explains how to implement that principle in our day to day life and the last section lists out the quotes of wisdom from enlightened beings from different background of life.

Also unlike many other books which focuses on the religious aspects of spirituality, this book strikes a balance between the religious preaching as well as scientific teaching while explaining the vital concepts of spirituality. Russell Anthony Gibbs has kept the language simple which can be easily understood by many, i.e people belonging to all the three X,Y & Z generation.  All the content is being kept short, precise and to the point. I must say, this is the first spiritual book with which I can completely agree. Also I would like to mention, this book just won the  2016 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for Best Spiritual Self-help book.

So to sum up, this is one great book which everyone should read and I will definitely keep this book in my shelf as a guide to the path of enlightenment. This book caters to both thiest and athiest demographic. I will surely recommend this book to anyone who wants to seek knowledge about spirituality and enlightenment. So if asked to rate it, I will give this book 5 stars out of 5. Grab your copy of this book from Amazon today itself. Here is a direct link to the Amazon for the same:

Biography Of Famous People: Alexander Hamilton - John Smith Review

(Picture Source: Washington University Law School)
Hello Readers...

First I would like to thank and express my sincere gratitude to the author of this book "John Smith" for providing a copy of this book. Here, I would like to mention that John Smith sent me a draft of this book for the review. So, there are chances that the book which is available commercially might be different from what I read. Lets start the review with one of my favorite Alexander Hamilton's quote:

"Those who stand for nothing, fall for nothing."

As stated by Wikipedia, Alexander Hamilton was the founding father of "The United States of America" and the first "United States Secretary of the Treasury". Knowing those facts and being a person who likes to read autobiographies and biographies of great people, I was very curious and excited to read this biography of Alexander Hamilton written by John Smith.

The draft sent to me was just 112 pages long. So, these book is very short and most of the people would be able to finish this book in about a week span. In my personal opinion, this is a very good point about the book as it will be one of those quick read books which most people prefer.

Also, John Smith managed to keep this book precised to the point. However, I do felt that the beginning was fragmented with just the facts laid out for the readers right from past to his death. I really felt confused while going through the beginning. Also the vocabulary which John Smith has used throughout the book seems pretty advanced making it difficult to understand and connect with the book for the people who are not born in countries where English is not there primary language. I wish John Smith could have kept the language simpler for such audience.

Also I felt that the second half was much more interesting and engaging in terms of the way the facts were laid out, the pace with which the story was laid, the transitioning between the chapters and the language and the vocabulary used. I wished, At the end after reading the book, I wished that John Smith could have paid the same attention to the first half as he did to the second half which could have made the first half interesting both in terms of the content and the engagement of the content with the readers.

So to sum up, neglecting the beginning of the book, this book is really interesting and I really liked the way John Smith has narrated the life of the founding father of The United States of America - Alexander Hamilton. Being a person who doesn't know much about Alexander Hamilton and a non-US resident, this book sparked a interest and curiosity in me to get to know more such interesting things about such a great personality. So if asked to rate this book, I will give it 3.5 stars out of 5. If you felt interested and want to pre-order the book, here is link to the amazon from where you can get the book:
