The reason why I picked this book was....1) It was a non-fiction book...2) It was based on Law of Attraction...3) It has given references from Star Wars series. I always prefer reading non-fiction books over fiction as those books are more meaningful and relatable as compared to the fiction books. Also this book is highlighting the concept of Law of Attraction and that too giving reference to Star Wars series. So if you are a person who loves Star Wars then it is quite natural that you will be tempt to pick this book up and start reading it....the same thing happen with me.

Also this book is highlighting the concept of Law of Attraction and how to use it to get anything you want just by using our inner Force to complete any activity or to get anything you want. I have to say that I am not a big follower of the concept of Law Of Attraction and I personally feel that many people are using this concept in a wrong way and the earlier books which I have read often portray that concept in  a wrong way. With regards to this book....there are few things which I personally don't agree upon. But yes there are few important aspects in this book which I loved and I would personally like to implement those in my own life. So if you are looking to read this book...then have an open mind and let the concepts sink in....that way you could enjoy this book in a better way.

Also Joshua P.Warren has written this book in a extremely simple fashion that would let you understand this book in a better way. The author has also kept a slow and steady pace while bringing new concepts so that while reading you don't feel  that a new concept is brought in early or is rushed upon and allows the content of the previous chapter to sink in before introduction of new concpets. Kudos to Joshua P.Warren for that.

And the best part of the book....the Star Wars analogies. Who doesn't love Star Wars??...I loved the way Joshua P.Warren has explain the slightly difficult concepts by giving reference to Star Wars....that way readers can easily relate those concepts with their own lives. Those analogies explain not only the concepts into the book but also helps the person to understand the Star Wars series in a better way.

So to sum up, if you are a person who believes in Law of Attraction principle or would like to know about that then you might like this book. Also if you are person who loves Star Wars series which I am sure majority of you will be....then you can have a look at this book. For me personally, I don't agree with all the things mention in the book but yes I did enjoy those references and analogies. To rate this book, I would give this book 4 stars out of 5. My sole purpose of reading this book was to know more about the money making machine, i.e The Wall Street and I must say this book didn't disappoint me in that aspect. This book is a carefully crafted document about the rise and the fall of the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EFH), since its beginning till the end. Even if you don't know about this Efficient Market Hypothesis, this book will surely foster your curiosity into the same.

This book is all about the people who were greatly responsible for developing the market and their views on the rational market. This book lists down series of event in a chronological fashion which happened in span of more than a century. Yes, you read it right, the century back history of the Wall Street and that too in just around 300 pages. Of all the financial books which I have read, I feel this book lists down all the events in a nice concise manner. This book is aimed at a normal person who is not aware about the market and aims to give her/him, the exposure to the ideas of the scholars of the market.

I am quite sure, you must have seen financial people working with fancy charts and big numbers and might worry that this book might contains such fancy chart which you might not be accustomed to, so let me tell you that this book doesn't contain any of those, but yes there is something which might bother you. I will come to this point in a while.

Justin Fox being a TIME magazine business journalist and Editorial Editor of Harvard Business Review Group, has written a pretty comprehensive history about the rational market hypothesis and how Financial Engineers viewed market in those days.This book highlights the rational market approach of the early Finance Engineers and their thirst to predict the market and stocks value on any given day. This book will definitely make you more interested in the financial market.

This book is a treat to read if you know few things about finance and market behavior. However, if you are a person who is completely unaware of the financial concepts and basic ideology, then you might find it difficult to understand the book completely and even might take more time than your regular book. This book does mentions few concepts which you will understand quickly if you have a little understanding of the financial concepts. Yes, this book indeed have explained those concepts, but knowing few basic things will surely cut down your reading time..

So to sum up, I really enjoyed reading this book and I will highly recommend this book to someone who wants to know about the history of the Efficient Market Hypothesis. I would have love if this book has toned down the financial concepts slightly to make it more easily understandable to the general audience, but no complaints from my side. We often try to improve ourselves so as to be a better person not only in our professional world but also in our personal life. This applies to me as well. For this I was looking for books which could help me to improve my personality and while searching out for books on the internet, I stumbled upon the concept of Appreciative Inquiry. I was lucky enough to get a book on the same topic via goodreads written by Dr. Neena Verma. So here is the review of Appreciative Inquiry: Practitioner's Guide For Generative Change and Development written by Dr. Neena Verma.

First I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the author of the book Dr. Neena Verma for sending in the book via goodreads. So lets begin with the review.

This book is about the art of Appreciative Inquiry. For people who just like me who were unaware of this concept here is a brief  description of AI as explained by Appreciative Inquiry Commons:

"Appreciative Inquiry is the cooperative search for the best in people, their organisations and the entire world around them. It involves systematic discovery of what gives a system 'life; when it is most effective and capable in economic, ecological, and human terms. AI involves the art and practice of asking questions that strengthen a system's capacity to heighten positive potential. It mobilizes inquiry through crafting an 'unconditional positive questions' often involving hundreds or sometimes thousands of people."

As mentioned above, the art of AI can be used in organisations as well as in our personal lives. This art signifies having a positive approach to each and every problems rather than taking a negative outlook. This book will surely steer you to have a more positive radical approach in life. This book highlights the very key point which I feel is the most important for succeeding in the life, the quality of Team Work. This book is a guide for anyone who wants to explore this novel concept and who wants to imbibe the philosophy of AI. This book caters to the organisational aspects of the AI as well which will surely help many organisations to grow and appreciate their employees. However, on what level this theory can work in the organisational framework, of that I am not sure as I am still pursuing my studies and have very little to none exposure to the organisational scenario. So if you are a person who has used this method in your organisation, do let me know in the comment section as to how your experience was with this method. Will love to read them.

One thing that slightly bothered me, here I might be nick picking but still will like to mention that the print use for typing is pretty dark. So when you are reading one page, the print on the back side of page also seems to be visible. This thing did bother me so I thought should mentioned it. It would have been much better if the printer could have paid a little more attention to this aspect.

This book will definitely generate a curiosity if you are unaware of this concept. However, like I said earlier, I am not a right person to validate those theories. But to me this concepts seems not that difficult to incorporate into the organisational structure. To rate this book, I will give it 4 stars out of 5. I hoped that you had a safe Diwali and a great Halloween and I am sure that you might have enjoyed a lot. The book which I am reviewing today. "From Stardust To Babylon" was provided to me by the author "Amanda Bucan" for review purpose. I will urge all the readers to do read the entire post as this book is very different from majority of the books available out there.

Here is a brief synopsis to begin with the review:

I must say that this book is quite different from most of the books which I have reviewed and read in the past. This book I feel can't be categorized into any particular genre per say. This books starts as a normal love story and I expected the book to continue on the similar lines. But as I continued reading, this book took me by surprised as it converted from a love story to sort of demonical nature. With the paranormal activities taking place, this book generated interest which forbids me from putting this book down. The story progresses and the horror story got converted into spirituality and sort of thriller as Amanda Bucan starts joining the broken pieces of the puzzle.

The best thing about the book is the transitioning between these different sections. The transitioning is butter smooth and the entire book just feels like a poetry in motion wherein the readers effortlessly transitions from one section to the other. Coming to the characters, I could completely connect with the characters right from the beginning of the book. Amanda Bucan has written this book in the first person's point of view and being a person who loves to read books written in first person's view, this book gets extra brownie points from my side.

Coming to the writing style used by Amanda Bucan in this book, this book is narrated in specific sections or rather memories of her life. So you might see sections where the book shifts from one time zone to the other withing few paragraphs. So if you are not fond of reading books written and narrated in such style, you might find it difficult to stay with the books and might feel of droping the book. But considering the fact that this book is a result of 14 years of her life's incidents, adopting to such style of writing is necessary and essential to get all the details without missing any necessary incidents in a short concise book.

The book is quite easy to understand in the beginning and the middle but understanding and getting in the facts at the end of the book is slightly difficult. For me personally, I have to read the last sections or rather last few chapters thrice to actually sink in all the information in my mind. Even you might also have to read few segments in the book, to let the information sink in. But yes, I will admit that the more you read those segments, the more the details will be easier to understand and all the information will be crystal clear and more this book will be beneficial for you. Even Amanda Bucan also mention at one portion that you might have to read some segments for better clarity of information.

This book also mentions and touches on the topic of "Life After Death" or raher I should say "Love Beyond Death". So if you are believer in this concept or even if you are not, this book might give you a complete new as well as a rational perspective to this entire concept. Even at the end of this book, Amanda has attached few photographs which she click which might get you interested in this concept as those indeed got me interested.

So to sum up, I really enjoyed reading this book and I really glad and thankful to Amanda  for providing me such a book to read. This book surely gets 4 stars out of 5 stars from my side. I will definiltely try to get a physical copy of this book and keep it in my shelf. If you are like me who is open to reading completely different kind of book, then you should definitely consider giving a thought to this book. I always wanted to know what will be life of those who creates millions in fortune by means of illegal trafficking and was wondering what challenges they and their loved ones would have to faced because of this. I was fortunate to find this book and I am really thankful to the author of this book Robert Stone for providing a copy of this book via goodreads. This is one book which I was excited to read since I came to know that I will be getting this book to read and was shipped to me.

This might be a bit lengthy review, so please bear with me on this. Lets quickly go through the synopsis and I will express my impressions immediately after that. Here is a brief synopsis of this book:

" In 1970, runaway 15 year old Robert Stone showed up in the Bahamas. Turning diver and pot smuggler in a Miami Vice world, he made a million before he was 18, then went legit as a pioneer saturation diver in the North Sea. At 30, after seeing friends die and surviving several close calls, he went to work for himself, mostly on the wrong side of the law: in the Niger Delta, where he conducted midnight oil deals with armed bandits; in the South China Seas, where he bribed the Vietnamese Navy and slipped away with $100 million worth of prime marijuana; and in the Arctic, where he unloaded the illicit cargo under the nose of the US Vice President. When his closest friend turned government informant, Stone was thrown into a Nigerian Jail. Stone bribed his way to freedom, and became the quarry in an international manhunt led by a U.S., Organised task force. The first thing that caught my attention was the cover. The cover looks stunning and I am in love with the cover of this book. The cover of this book made me comeback to the book when I was not reading this book.

I really love the story of this book. The story of a boy who gets into fuel smuggling and made a fortune for himself and how he made peace with his life in the end. This story has everything you would need, right from the drama, suspense and the emotions. The story takes you through the journey of a man in an apt manner in just 320 pages. I couldn't ask for anymore than that.

And on top of such an interesting and attention catching story, Robert Stone has done a phenomenal job in narrating this entire story and keeping it to just 320 pages. He literally takes you on the world tour and explains and narrates the entire details of the happenings in his life in simple and easy English and I am damn sure you would immediately connect with the story of this man. I really loved the concept where Robert Stone has divided each chapter into the locations which makes it lot easier for the readers to stay with this book, as this book discussed situations in various locations and the transitioning between the chapters is good, I won't say it is super smooth but yes its good and you won't feel disconnected while transitioning between the chapters. Let me tell you this that the actual story of this book is much more interesting than what we can get from the synopsis of the book mentioned above. So if you liked the synopsis, you will sure as hell love the actual book.

Also the kind of attention Robert Stone has paid to the details of each and every incident is simply amazing. I actually felt like Robert Stone is narrating this entire story to me in person. That kind of impact this book had on me.

Coming to the points where I felt this book could have improved. I felt the beginning of the story was much more dramatic and interesting as compared to the end of this book. Given the fact that this is a true story, I actually can't complain much but still I felt the end could have been drafted a little better. Also if the emotional quotient was up slightly towards the end, this could have made the end of this book a little better.

So to sum up, if you want to read a story of a boy who left home with $50 in jeans and earns and builds an enormous wealth of $40 mn, where after 25 years later he is walking out of Lichtenstein jail to his home in Scotland with just $50 in hos pocket....this is the book you need to read. I will surely recommend this book to any one who want to read a great true story. If asked to rate it, I would give this book 4.5 stars out of 5. This book is worth the money you pay. First I would like to thank and express my sincere gratitude to the author of this book "Russell Anthony Gibbs" for providing a copy of this book for the review.

Today while travelling, I started reading this book keeping in mind this book is based upon spirituality and was of the view that it was just like any other spirituality books available out there. But when I completed it, this book completely changed my perception. I would like to start the review with one of my favorite quote from Buddha.

"No one can save us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path."
Those of you who actually want to change themselves and live a good life, here is a brief synopsis of the book for such people:

"All enlightened beings, most founders of religion and many renowned scientists knew and understood the six principles of enlightenment. These universal truths have been written about, taught and discussed for thousands of years and yet remains shrouded in mystery and misinterpretations. This book seeks to remove that shroud.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment And Meaning of Life is an intellectual and spiritual work  that explains the six significant universal truths woven throughout science, religion and philosophy. These principles draw upon thousands of years of wisdom and are presented in concise, accessible format. The best thing about the book which I really liked is that this book is just 51 pages long. Russell Anthony Gibbs has done an immensely great job in keeping this book so short yet describing all the key things which each and everyone of us must know for being enlighten. Though this book is short, one must truly read and grasp the true essence of this book.

I really liked the concept where Russell Anthony Gibbs has divided each chapter in three sections wherein the first section explains what each principle is, second section explains how to implement that principle in our day to day life and the last section lists out the quotes of wisdom from enlightened beings from different background of life.

Also unlike many other books which focuses on the religious aspects of spirituality, this book strikes a balance between the religious preaching as well as scientific teaching while explaining the vital concepts of spirituality. Russell Anthony Gibbs has kept the language simple which can be easily understood by many, i.e people belonging to all the three X,Y & Z generation.  All the content is being kept short, precise and to the point. I must say, this is the first spiritual book with which I can completely agree. Also I would like to mention, this book just won the  2016 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for Best Spiritual Self-help book.

So to sum up, this is one great book which everyone should read and I will definitely keep this book in my shelf as a guide to the path of enlightenment. This book caters to both thiest and athiest demographic. I will surely recommend this book to anyone who wants to seek knowledge about spirituality and enlightenment. Biography Of Famous People: Alexander Hamilton - John Smith Review

First I would like to thank and express my sincere gratitude to the author of this book "John Smith" for providing a copy of this book. Here, I would like to mention that John Smith sent me a draft of this book for the review. So, there are chances that the book which is available commercially might be different from what I read. Lets start the review with one of my favorite Alexander Hamilton's quote:

"Those who stand for nothing, fall for nothing."
As stated by Wikipedia, Alexander Hamilton was the founding father of "The United States of America" and the first "United States Secretary of the Treasury". Knowing those facts and being a person who likes to read autobiographies and biographies of great people, I was very curious and excited to read this biography of Alexander Hamilton written by John Smith.

The draft sent to me was just 112 pages long. So, these book is very short and most of the people would be able to finish this book in about a week span. In my personal opinion, this is a very good point about the book as it will be one of those quick read books which most people prefer.

Also, John Smith managed to keep this book precised to the point. However, I do felt that the beginning was fragmented with just the facts laid out for the readers right from past to his death. I really felt confused while going through the beginning. Also the vocabulary which John Smith has used throughout the book seems pretty advanced making it difficult to understand and connect with the book for the people who are not born in countries where English is not there primary language. I wish John Smith could have kept the language simpler for such audience.

Also I felt that the second half was much more interesting and engaging in terms of the way the facts were laid out, the pace with which the story was laid, the transitioning between the chapters and the language and the vocabulary used. I wished, At the end after reading the book, I wished that John Smith could have paid the same attention to the first half as he did to the second half which could have made the first half interesting both in terms of the content and the engagement of the content with the readers.

So to sum up, neglecting the beginning of the book, this book is really interesting and I really liked the way John Smith has narrated the life of the founding father of The United States of America - Alexander Hamilton. Being a person who doesn't know much about Alexander Hamilton and a non-US resident, this book sparked a interest and curiosity in me to get to know more such interesting things about such a great personality. The Big Short: Inside The Doomsday Machine - Michael Lewis Review

If you ever wanted to know the reasons of Financial Crisis which happened in 2008, this is the best book which you could look for.

The Big Short describes several of the key players in the creation of the credit default swap market that sought to bet against the collateralize debt obligation (CDO) bubble and thus ended up profiting from the financial crisis of 2008. Yes you got it right and be ready as many such technical terms and financial concepts are going to get discussed when you start reading this book. Since I read this book after watching the movie directed by Adam McKay titled The Big Short, understanding such technical terms and concepts was a lot easier for me. This book tells the entire story behind the financial crisis through the eyes of three hedge fund managers and a Deutsche Bank salesperson. All these people were among the first to see the fraud behind the subprime fiasco and eventually leading to betting against the big Wall Street firms.

The book contains great content and is very well organised. Kudos for that to Michael Lewis. He has done a great job in describing this entire financial fiasco. This book had such a great impact that I started looking at more places to know more about this financial crisis. Definitely a must read book which makes it clear that even the white collar people should not be trusted blindly.

However, what I don't like is that the book covered only the aspects which were important or you can say critical for our three hedge fund managers. Since the book has been subtitled as "Inside the doomsday machine", it could have been great if government's as well as Wall Street firm's perspective were taken into account. Also, unlike the beginning and the end which were great, the middle section of the book was not that great.

But as a package this is a great and must read book if you want to know some inside facts that lead behind the financial crisis. I would rate it at 4 out of 5 stars. I personally liked the book a lot. There is a great video uploaded on Jonathan Jarvis's youtube channel which summarizes the entire financial crisis situation.
