Hello Readers...

Few weeks back, I have posted the review of Defective , the first book in the Outcast series written by Belinda Austin. The book cover for the second book "5 Chances" is out, so, I will lke to share the book cover and trailer with you until I get my hands on this book.

Here is a brief synopsis of the book:

" Ivory is obsessed with saving the Outcasts from vanishing from the CommonWealth of Earth. She vows to find out more about the lab experiments  going on at the Barren Island. The FRE (Fenatic Rule Enforcers - genetically modified humans) burned her boat, the Renegade; and she must find a rogue replacement, a fixer-upperboat someone threw away last year.

She has smuggled an Outcast out of Barren Island, but can she smuggle herself in to learn more about the high-tech secrets the CommonWealth is hiding? Perhaps the answers are in Lockup, the dreaded insane asylum mean for the Outcast  who have accumulated 25 demerits. At lockup us the Mortuary, a tunnel leading into the darkness. All Ivory must do to be thrown into the Lockup is to act even more rebellious and gain the attention of the Behaviour Drones and the FRE.

Ivory will do whatever it takes to save herself and her friends from extinction in a world where people have become immortal, except the Outcast, the thorn in the CommonWealth's side."

The video trailer of this book has been release just couple of days back. Here is the trailer:

From the synopsis and the trailer, it feels like Belinda Austin is trying to get more details and more twists into the story, which is actually cool as this will make the series more interesting. Also I am expecting more action in this book. So initial impressions, this book looks interesting and I will definitely try to get my hands on this book. Logbox - S.C.Eston Review

Recently while going through many books, I was thinking about a different kind of people who are more interested in writing a short stories rather than writing a full fledge novel. So I went through searching many short stories and stumble upon this one...this one looked interesting so I went ahead with reviewing this and here is what I feel after reading this book:

Here is a brief synopsis of the book:

"Logbox is a Sci-fi short story that provide a glimpse into the darker side of the world of Garadia. Nethu's life is an endless cycle of mining the asteroid, day after day, with no respite. But then, a new prisoner comes, and she gives him a present he doesn't want...a LOGBOX."

The first thing that caught my attention was the cover of this book. The cover is simply fantastic and since "S.C.Eston" himself has made the cover of this short story...so kudos for that.

Now coming to the actual content of the book, the story or rather the idea of the short story seems interesting. The best portion of the book is definitely the epilogue section. The beginning of the book just feels distorted. I mean the book grabs your attention for a while but loses the reader after some time. The beginning I feel is like scrambled pieces of the puzzle where I was constantly trying to make sense but just couldn't. On the contrary, the epilogue is actually the selling point of the story. It was like the missing piece in the puzzle, which connects the dots which I was constantly trying right from the beginning.

In my frank opinion, I feel the beginning of the story could have been much better, which could have made this thing an interesting read. So, if I have to rate it, I will five it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Perception - Lee Strauss Review

Perception is a Sci-fi, mystery and romantic novel. The concept of this book is very intruding. The story sets in the future where science is so developed that people can genetically advance themselves, i.e GAP and live for 100 more years. There are normal peoples also in this world. Both the GAP's and the Normals live separately and equally hate each other.

It is a story of seventeen year old Zoe Vanderveen, who is a GAP and lives inside the security of a GAP city named Sol. The story starts with Zoe's brother Liam who goes missing. Due to very carefree attitude of Zoe's parents as well as authorities, Zoe decides to find her bother on her own.

The search of the Liam's whereabouts leads Zoe to the outside world, a place where normals lives and is known as "Los Angeles'. Zoe decides to take help of her maids son named 'Noah Brody'. Noah is a normal who leads protest against the GAP's and their policies. During their search both Zoe and Noah developed a feeling of love and affection for each other. The story continues further making shocking revelations regarding Liam as well as Zoe.

As I said earlier, the concept of this book looks very fascinating. The author 'Lee Strauss' has done a good job in describing the character and the entire situation. I also like the fact that the book is written in first person's point of view giving chance to the readers to developed an intimate connection with the character itself. Also the chapters are kept small which makes it easy for the readers to stay connected with the book.

However, the development of the story is not up to the mark. The author was clearly struggling in the plot development section. Few important aspects where simply ignored which could have made the novel more interesting to read.

So if you are a sci-fi reader and are interested in romantic novels, you can surely have a look at this novel. I  will leave a link to amazon from where you can get the book if you want. For me personally, this book didn't did much a good.
